Doodle Coats
Our doodle coats can vary depending on the parents that we use and the furnishing genes they carry. Most of our doodles have a furnished coat, meaning they have the longer, curlier hair on their face. Some of our doodles have an unfurnished coat, meaning they have a smooth face and they look less poodle and more like the other breed. Below is an example of 2 puppies (mini aussie bernedoodles) that are from the same litter and look totally different!
Of course, there are advantages and disadvantages to both types of coats. The doodles with unfurnished coats don’t typically have the “doodle” look. However, the coat is very low shedding and you still get the health benefits of breeding a hybrid breed. The unfurnished coat does not necessarily require a groomer like the furnished coat typically does, and is very manageable. Many people like the concept of the doodle (temperament, size, more diverse gene pool, etc.) but the amount of work involved in the upkeep of furnished coats, with the brushing and grooming requirements, can be overwhelming.
Although we cannot guarantee a coat of any variety, as some can be furnished, weak furnished, or unfurnished, we do know which parents can produce puppies with different coats. What you will be getting with any of our puppies is a healthy, happy, low- to no-shed puppy!
